Taking pride in supporting equality

 
The current Black Lives Matter actions remind me of the origins of LGBTQ+ pride. The movement is rooted in taking a strong stand against systemic injustices and inequalities.

I believe there can be no true ‘pride’ without equality and justice for all. Along with my fellow colleagues, I stand firmly in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community both within and outside our company walls. That means valuing and promoting equality among employees and the communities we serve.

I am proud to be able to speak on behalf of our entire Executive Committee when I say everyone at our company should feel safe and empowered to be their true and authentic selves.

We seek to foster an accepting and truly inclusive culture grounded in a fundamental respect for all people. One of the ways we do this is by embracing the diversity of our people’s ideas, experiences and background.

That’s why we pledge to make this our ongoing reality, and why we are honored to celebrate Pride Month with the LGBTQ+ community in June – and beyond.  

Enormous strides have been made in advancing equality, but we know there is more work to be done. UCB remains inspired and dedicated to meeting the unmet needs of our entire rich and diverse community.
