Playing our part to improve access to our medicines for patients who need them

Every person has a right to health, and we do our part to remove barriers to our medicines for those who need them.

Many challenges may prevent access to medicines, including the lack of healthcare professionals close to patients, the time taken for new medicines to be made available in a market, reimbursement practices, affordability and availability of medicines in health facilities.

We recognize that our role in society is broader than discovering and developing solutions to treat severe diseases – the real difference happens treatments they need reach patients wherever they live. This is why we aim at continuously improving patient access our medicines by considering the diversity of global healthcare systems, health policies and funding approaches.

We therefore regularly adapt our Managed Access or Patient Support Programs to provide fast-paced access to patients; we work closely with healthcare systems and payers to price our medicines according to their value to people with severe diseases, the healthcare system and society and to ensure that patients can access them without undue financial burden; we build and pilot new business models and approaches to reach underserved people in low- and middle-income settings – which face a multitude of barriers that hinder equitable access to medicines.
